Robert Whitaker: “This is one of the art pieces that was brought in. John was really very amused by these things and he kept looking at me and making this face. Then, all of a sudden, he shoved it in his coat and I just took him over to a window where I had a bit of light and made that picture of him trying to look Japanese. I think, also, that it was at the stage where John was becoming quite interested in the oriental female. He met a lovely girl in Sydney, in ‘64, called Jenny Keyes whose father was Italian, I think her mother was Chinese.”
